Learning something while staying dry
Email:   Marie 2010-03-04 14:04:05

As we have seen so many rainy days and few chances to ride me and Ilona decided to drive to Salinas for a ride that was truly amazing.
We signed up for a lesson on an interactive dressage "horse". Its a high tech dressage horse simulator and it really feels like riding a solid, well balanced Grand Prix horse.
The saddle has seat indicators so every move or shift in your balance is indicated on the screen, it responds to seat, leg and hand aids just like a perfectly trained horse. If you do it wrong you will know, when you get it right it will perform all the right moves.

It was an awesome way to deepen your understanding of how the horse experiences our seat and aids. All your own imbalances and tensions were immediately revealed. You get a chance to improve and learn what it should feel like without having to worry as this horse does not spook, buck or bolt, it just do everything you tell it to do!
The lesson also took place indoors out of the rain.

If you have time and money to spare now when we have no arenas for lessons, and you truly want to understand how you influence the horse, this is the chance to do just that.
I can easily see it would benefit riders of any discipline as it shows what the horse experiences when we sit on them.
The lady who have this amazing learning tool is herself a high level dressage rider and horse trainer.
